This is a Beautiful Vintage Radio Repair Shop Neon Sign. This is from a recently closed radio repair shop and hung in their front window for years. It is in very good working condition. The word RADIO is in red while REPAIR is in blue. It is a little dirty but has excellent patina so I do not want to do any cleaning. Some of the black masking paint between the letters is flaking off but that can be reapplied it you so wish. It has the original hanging wire loops still attached on the top back. I do not know the exact age of this sign but it has two labor union tags on the end of the case which I understand were used from the 1940-70’s. One tag is for the International Association of Sheet Metal Workers Local 15 and the other is for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2, American Federation o f Labor (AFL). UPDATE: I found that the AFL was a single union federation until 1955 when it merged with the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) to become the AFL-CIO. So this must predate that. The transformer is a H&K Appliance 9030-00 gas tube transformer rated at 9000 volts. The two patent numbers on the transformer are both from 1930. It measures 20″ long x 9″ tall. The sign will be packaged VERY well with lots of padding. I will likely package the transformer in a separate box. This is from a recently closed local radio repair shop. The owners had been in business for many years and had acquired a large assortment of collectables.
