Really Sharp “THE STRIDE RITE SHOE” Light Up Display Sign. By Neon Products Inc, Lima Ohio, USA, Circa:1950’s-1970’s. Approx: 20″ W x 10″ H x 3 5/8 D, 7.4 lbs. “THE STRIDE RITE SHOE” Light Up Display Sign is a nice addition to any vintage sign collector’s treasure trove. Fairly rare sign by Neon Products Inc in this style. The sign has a metal case (some have composite backing) and was made by Neon Products Inc of Lima Ohio. NPI when out of operation in 1977, so this sign is before that and likely a later 1950’s to early 1970’s production based on cord and other features. The sign is in excellent, but not perfect condition with a few small blemishes to case. The face panel is a hard plastic and in nice shape as shown with only some minor blemishes as well, you can see them if you hold the sign in light at an angle, but hard to see when lit or just looking at it in regular lighting. We photographed the inside of case and it appears all original, but we did not try to clean the inside or other, just left it as found. This can be displayed on a counter or hung up. The only thing missing is one hanging clip on top which can be replaced easily, we just did not have time prior to listing. The clip simply screws in the top if needed you can see other clip for an example in pictures. A quick tip in case you ever have trouble with sign lighting up. There is a standard fuse which you can see (silver color) in photo of open case (collectors know this already). If it is just loose, you simply turn it into place. To open the case you just gently unscrew the top four screws and gently lift top panel off. You can then gently remove the plastic face panel to access bulb area. Always handle bulbs, fuses and other with plastic gloves on if possible to avoid oil transfer and of course unplug item before doing any maintenance.
