Vintage Art Deco TOILET GOODS Reverse Painted Neon Advertising Sign was manufactured by NEON PRODUCTS INC. Of LIMA, OHIO and measures 27 1/8 Long by 7 5/8 High by 2 Deep, 5 1/2 Deep at the Transformer Case. The Original Cord has been replaced by a 65 Modern Cord with grounded plug. Sign shows some age and wear (see photos) but is in overall very good condition. Sign has warm glow with wonderful Art Deco green neon light. Really great color neon and sign. The curved ends art deco case is a classic. The sign works great and since the photos were taken we have installed a new cord with plug. The case is cool but does have some pitting to the metal portions but still a solid sign. This could be easily cleaned up or totally restored or ready to hang up in your bath or store. HERE IS ONE THAT I’LL BET YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND THAT YOU ARE LIKELY NEVER TO SEE AGAIN, A VINTAGE ANTIQUE NATIONAL SPORTING GOODS ASSOCIATION “IT PAYS TO PLAY” PORCELAIN NEON ADVERTISING DISPLAY SIGN, circa 1920s-30s. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS, THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE PORCELAIN SIGNS, BOTH DIE CUT, ONE IN THE SHAPE OF A LARGE SHIELD WITH THE “NSGA” LOGO IN THE MIDDLE SURROUNDED BY 4 SILHOUETTED IMAGES OF A FEMALE TENNIS PLAYER, A MALE GOLFER, AND MALE BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL PLAYERS. IN FRONT OF THAT AT THE BOTTOM, SET OFF BY A PAIR OF METAL EXTENSIONS, IS ANOTHER PORCELAIN SIGN IN THE SHAPE OF A SCROLL WHICH READS “IT PAYS TO PLAY”. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOME MINOR TOUCH UP TO THE BLACK AND WHITE PAINT IN A FEW AREAS BUT QUITE EXPERTLY DONE. THE ELECTRICAL CORD IS FRAYED IN AREAS. WHEN IT IS PLUGGED IN THERE IS A VERY FAINT HUM FROM THE CASE BUT THE NEON DOES NOT LIGHT UP. IF YOU LOOK BEHIND THE SCROLL SIGN YOU CAN SEE THAT THE GLASS NEON TUBE DOES NOT MAKE A COMPLETE CIRCUIT, IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CUT OR BROKEN, HOWEVER WHEN LOOKING FROM THE FRONT, THE GLASS TUBE IS COMPLETE ALL THE WAY AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE SHIELD. THE UNIT IS SELF STANDING AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS. THE SHIELD MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 18.5″ x 12″. THE SCROLL IS APPROXIMATELY 18.5 ACROSS. THE UNIT IS ABOUT 6.5 DEEP. A RARE PIECE OF SPORTS ADVERTISING MEMORABILIA, FIRST I’VE SEEN IN OVER 25 YEARS OF COLLECTING AND TRADING. DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
